  1. deputyblonde says:

The shaving cream sounds fantastic, but will it clog the drain?

    • It shouldn’t because you don’t need much of the cream, a little goes a long way! Also, if you’re using warm water, that should help it run through the drain/pipes without problem. You can also add more olive oil if you are worried about it.

      • michelle says:

Our plumber told us NEVER to put oils down the drain with warm or hot water. That makes them turn into sludge and cling to the inside of the pipe and eventually clog it. He said to ALWAYS wash oils down the drain with COLD water. That way they stay in tact, and some will even solidify (like coconut oil), and wash right through the pipes. Don’t ask me how I know…

  2. Jena Dykstra says:

Can this shaving cream be stored in his bathroom?

    • Maria says:

You can add about 1/8 vitamin E oil ( or open a capsule), to preserve it. If your bathroom temperature is warm it might soften since the coconut oil goes liquid, but maybe the Shea butter might keep it at a good consistency??

      • The shea butter does help. The consistency won’t be like typical shaving creams that you buy at the store but it should still have a very similar effect.

  3. Connie says:

How long will it last? And what kind of olive oil?

    • I like cold pressed extra virgin olive oil. The recipe should last a few weeks (mixing before each use) but I would make smaller batches to keep the ingredients fresh.

  6. Luis says:

I am a razor kind of guy so I tried this out and have got to say it worked great and left my skin moisturized after. Felt and looked like that old school shave butter from back in the day! Lol.

  7. Allisen says:

Dr Axe, your posts are incredible!!! Thank you for all the great recipes. I want to make everything! As a mother of a one year old, I’m so excited to learn healthy options for my family.

  8. Sheryl says:

Where do you buy your lavender oil?

  9. Shellie Foust says:

Add a couple tablespoons of Dr. Bronners non-scented liquid soap for some lather – just my 2 cents :)

  10. teepsk8 says:

I don’t like this shaving product, it does not lather up at all. I use a silver tip badger brush and a safety rasor

  11. Grant says:

How do you use it, not used a cream like this before
