Use what you learn here to have better conversations with your clinician. Your own care needs a professional who knows you.
Education is the purpose
DrAxe.com is a consumer health publisher operated by Axe Media Inc., with content by Dr. Josh Axe, DNM, DC, CNS, and contributors. Articles, recipes, supplement discussions, protocols, quizzes, Ask Dr. Axe responses, and the planned Marker Reader are for educational and informational purposes. They are not medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, prescriptions, or a substitute for professional care.
Reading an article, creating an account, sharing health information, or receiving a personalized result does not create a doctor-patient or other clinician-patient relationship with Dr. Axe, Axe Media, or a contributor. A medical review of an article checks editorial content; it is not an examination of you or approval of a recommendation for you.
Work with your own clinician
Seek guidance from a physician or other qualified health professional about symptoms, a medical condition, a test result, or a change to your care. Do not disregard medical advice, delay seeking care, stop a prescribed medicine, or change a treatment plan because of this site or an AI response.
Ask Dr. Axe is software that generates answers, not a live clinician. Its answers can be inaccurate or incomplete. Quiz results and educational readings cannot account for your full history, examination, or all possible explanations of a symptom or lab value.
In an emergency, call 911
If you think you may be having a medical emergency, call 911 in the United States immediately. Outside the United States, contact your local emergency service. Do not wait for a chat reply, a bloodwork reading, or an email response. This site does not monitor your health or provide emergency assessment, alerts, or care.
Natural products and protocols can carry risks
Natural does not mean risk-free. Foods, supplements, herbs, essential oils, fasting, exercise, and other protocols may cause adverse effects, allergies, or interactions and may be unsuitable for some people. A dosage or routine discussed in an article is not an individualized prescription.
Consult your clinician before starting a supplement or protocol, especially if you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, nursing, taking medication, preparing for surgery, or living with a diagnosed condition. Do not use adult guidance for a child without professional advice. Read product labels and discuss all medicines and supplements you take with your clinician. The FDA explains why medicines and supplements can interact.
Individual results vary
People differ in their health history, genetics, environment, and response to a change. A study finding, testimonial, example, or Dr. Axe Score is not a promise that you will have the same outcome. We do not guarantee improvement, prevention of illness, or a particular result from following information on the site.
What a bloodwork reading means
The Marker Reader compares values you enter or upload with Dr. Axe’s editorial “optimal” ranges and provides an educational interpretation. Those ranges express an editorial approach; they may differ from your laboratory’s reference intervals and are not universal diagnostic thresholds. A value outside an editorial range does not establish disease, and a value inside one does not rule out illness or a need for care.
You supply the data. The site does not verify a report’s authenticity, the person it belongs to, test methods, units, dates, transcription, or completeness. Incorrect entries or extracted values can produce a misleading reading. Check the original report, including units and reference intervals, and review results with the clinician who ordered the test. Do not rely on the tool to identify critical values or notify you of an urgent problem.
Saving a reading in an account provides a record for your own learning. It does not establish clinical monitoring or create a medical record maintained on behalf of a healthcare provider. The Health Information Release & Consent explains how information supplied for this tool is intended to be handled.
Clinical services are separate
Bloodwork panels, consultations, and clinical programs linked through The Health Institute (THI) are provided by that separate company on its own site, under THI’s terms, pricing, privacy practices, and clinical arrangements. DrAxe.com links out to those services and does not hold THI’s clinical records. Questions about a THI test order, appointment, or treatment belong with THI or the treating clinician.
A link to THI, Ancient Nutrition, or another provider or seller does not guarantee the suitability of its services or products for you.
