They're calling the FDA to upgrade their standards on electronic devices. And the original Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act is all the way back from 1968. So even what's considered normal or healthy today, those standards are over 50 years old. Hi, welcome to the Growth Lab. I am Dr. Josh Axe. I'm a graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
I'm the founder of Ancient Nutrition and draxe.com. And today we're going to talk about France banning the iPhone due to EMF and radiation. And according to the World Health Organization, cell phones are possible carcinogens. Now, France this past week banned the iPhone 12. So if you have the iPhone 12, pay particular attention.
But this is— I'm also going to go through all cell phones and iPhones on this, but the most dangerous has been found to be the iPhone 12 because of its high radiation emissions. Now, EU standard emissions is 4 watts per kilogram, and iPhone 12 is 5.74. So it is well above the standards of EU radiation emission. And here's what you need to know. Over time, radiation is a carcinogen.
It has been linked to cancer. And radiation over time causes cell irregularity. And so it doesn't cause— it causes your cells to become diseased. And so, if you have your cell phone up to your head constantly or in your pocket, most people's cell phones tend to be close to 2 areas, their brain and their reproductive organs.
And so, those are the 2 areas that are probably the most effective along with the liver because the liver in terms of organs has to deal with the most toxicity. And so, it's really important to be aware of if you have the iPhone 12. Now, I want to go through a few other stats here and then go through what you can do to limit radiation.
Now, according to the Environmental Working Group, they're calling the FDA to upgrade their standards on electronic devices. And the original Radiation Control for Health and Safety Act is all the way back from 1968. So even what's considered normal or healthy today, those standards are over 50 years old.
So really, it's really important to understand that, you know, There hasn't been a lot of research done on the long-term effects of radiation exposure like computers and cell phones and other things that we're exposed to on a daily basis. And the current standards also— there was 1968, there were a few updated standards, not completely, but in 1996.
But this is before cell phones were widely available or given to young children. So here's the big thing. Children should be limited significantly in their exposure to radiation. You know, there are no long-term studies done. Almost every study that's been done on this sort of thing, on radiation, has been done on adult men in the military.
And we know that when a child's developing, causing abnormal cellular development is very, very dangerous, of course. Now, there are several precautions that you can take. The first I would say is if you have an iPhone 12, consider trying to get a newer model. As soon as possible.
The other big thing, and I want to share a lot of these are things that I personally do, is I try and have my phone on airplane mode, especially while I'm sleeping at night. So anytime I'm sleeping, my phone's on airplane mode or it's in my bathroom. Okay? So it's not by my head or very close to me while I'm sleeping. So airplane mode, one of the biggest things you can do.
The other thing I want to mention here, going back to kids, is that it's not only the side effects of radiation that are harmful, it's The constant effects of how it affects our dopamine when you're scrolling or looking at blue light, it also affects your sleep at night. So, there's radiation, there are the effects of blue light, there's the addictive effects of cellular devices as well.
But again, radiation is one of the big things or the big thing we're talking about today. So, you want to keep these devices away from kids. You can actually buy boxes, keep cell phones in there in a way. Yeah. You should have time to where kids can be on certain devices.
And by the way, some of the most incredible parents I know, they won't give their kids cell phones until much, much later on, you know, later on in high school, once they're driving or something like that. So now listen, you might, uh, your kids might complain and say, well, my friend has a cell phone and my friend has a cell phone.
Whether you give your kids a cell phone or not, you do wanna do your best to limit exposure. Because listen, the body is resilient. The body, even kids' bodies, they can, They can take a fall. They can eat eating something that's not perfect now and again. But it's when it's regular over and over and over every day that problems tend to arise.
The other thing I would say is that you wanna consider doing is use Wi-Fi rather than 5G. We know that 5G likely has more side effects than Wi-Fi. So turning off your Bluetooth, turning off certain other things and just using Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi is a lot less, way less— radiation than a 5G signal or then also, as we mentioned, using Bluetooth.
So again, I just want to encourage you to limit your radiation exposure. And listen, focus on the majors, right? I don't think it's realistic for you to not have a cell phone or your kids once they get to high school or college just to never ever have a cell phone. But I do think it's realistic to just limit your exposure. Think about it like this.
Eat as clean as you can during the week, but if you eat out a couple days a week, Maybe you don't eat so perfect. It's a similar thing. What are some easy things you can do? Putting your phone on airplane mode, especially while you're sleeping, or putting it in another room while you're sleeping at night.
Using Wi-Fi when you can, like FaceTime audio is even better, and then turning off your Bluetooth. And also, again, don't keep it on your head or in your pocket constantly. Try and have it just sitting on the counter or another place in the room so it's not that close to your vital organs. Those are some of the biggest things you can do in order to limit your radiation exposure.
And so, remember, France has banned the iPhone 12 over high radiation emissions. And so, you want to do your best to, especially if you have an iPhone 12, try and get a different version of a phone when you can, or at the very least, try and do some of my top recommendations. Now, I do have one other recommendation I want to add in.
And that is getting an EMF phone case or device that limits those EMF radiation frequencies. So you can simply go online on Amazon and search EMF phone case, and you can use those sort of cases or other things to help limit your radiation exposure. So I'd love to hear from you in the comment section.
What is your biggest takeaway and what do you believe about cell phones, about 5G, about radiation and the iPhone 12? And hey, If you do some things to limit your radiation exposure, please share that in the comment sections below as well. And if you know somebody that needs to hear this, hey, please share it with them. Hey, thanks so much for watching this week's Growth Lab Podcast.
