If we were to dissect your brain and all the neurological tissue with it, you would see it's all connected, like this enteric nervous system, this neurological tissue is all connected to the brain. And the frontal cortex, the brain fires to this enteric nervous system, and then we have all those really beneficial things to help improve digestion, absorption, gut motility, all that stuff. So, what's fascinating is is I have to do things from a clinician standpoint to get the brain to start firing to this enteric nervous system more effectively. One of the easiest ways that you can do is just, uh, gargling water aggressively for 2 to 3 minutes. That's such an easy thing. We had a patient with severe constipation, uh, she would go weeks without going to the bathroom. Like the second day in, she's like, "Hey, can I take a suppository?" I was like, "Hey, no, don't do that. Just gargle water aggressively every hour for the next 5 hours and let me know if that works." She texts me like 3 hours later and she's like, "Dr. Redd, I pooped!" She was so pumped. But all she did was she gargled water aggressively, and that caused the frontal cortex to fire to the vagal nuclei and to the enteric nervous system.
