In 2006, Dr. Gapin was the first urologist in Sarasota, FL to perform robotic surgery.

In 2013, Dr. Gapin was the first urologist in Sarasota to perform 3-D MRI/US targeted fusion biopsy for advanced prostate cancer detection, which has since become the standard of care.

In 2013, he was the first board-certified urologist in Sarasota, Florida to perform High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for minimally invasive treatment of men with prostate cancer. HIFU has since been FDA-approved for use in the US and has become widely recognized and utilized as a safe, effective treatment option for prostate cancer with minimal treatment-related side effects compared to traditional options. Dr. Gapin founded Sarasota Prostate Care in 2014 to provide MRI/US targeted fusion biopsy and HIFU for prostate cancer patients.

In 2017, Dr. Gapin founded Smart Men’s Health, focused on optimizing male performance and genetic potential. Dr. Gapin offers a personalized path to helping men maximize sexual health, testosterone levels and vitality. He provides advanced epigenetic evaluation and coaching, nutrition and lifestyle intervention, individualized supplement programs and a personalized approach to helping men optimize their potential.

Education

After his undergraduate education at Texas A&M University and medical school training at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dr. Gapin completed a general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Florida.
