Research published in the international journal Planta Medica looked at the effects of a number of vervain extracts (extracted in various ways) when given orally to animal subjects. Vervain has a long history of being revered by many different cultures and peoples including the Druids, Persians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, and worshippers of Thor in Scandinavia.
Back in ancient Egypt, it became known as a divine herb that was believed to come from the tears of the goddess Isis when she wept over the death of the god Osiris.
