Lavender Lemon Vegan Donuts
When you think of bakery treats that you can make at home, I bet cookies and cakes come first to mind. But did you know that donuts are just as easy to make at home? And they can be vegan?
While they might look complicated, the only special tool you need to prepare donuts is a donut pan! Super easy.
I suggest you try your hand at making these treats with my Lavender Lemon Vegan Donuts recipe.
Special Ingredients
Not only is there no dairy in these vegan donuts, but they’re also gluten-free.
They’re prepared with chickpea flour, a high-protein, high-fiber alternative to wheat flour.
The dried lavender adds such a distinctive — and delicious — taste. If you haven’t tried this flower in food before, you’re in for a pleasant surprise!
Meanwhile, rather than using inferior fats, this vegan donut recipe uses healthy fats from coconut oil and coconut butter.
This is a snack that will keep you energetic rather than weight you down (and is only 250 calories per donut … much less than the typical donut).
Move over, Krispy Kreme. There are some new donuts in town.
How to Make Lavender Lemon Vegan Donuts
Start by preheating the oven to 350F and then mixing together the dry ingredients in a large bowl, and set them aside.
In a separate bowl, add the wet ingredients — including nutrition-rich coconut milk — and whisk until combined. Then add the wet ingredients to the dry bowl, and stir it all up.
Next, grease the donut pan, and pour in the combined mix. (No donut pan? Use a cake or muffin pan, and use parchment paper or tin foil to create the center area.)
Bake for about 12–15 minutes or until the donuts are golden brown. Don’t overbake!
While the donuts are baking, prepare the frosting, in which you use either maple syrup or raw honey. In a small saucepan, add all the frosting ingredients, and heat over medium-low on the stove until everything is well mixed.
Let the donuts rest for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack. Top the vegan lemon lavender donuts with the frosting and coconut flakes, and then serve and enjoy!
These donuts are delicious anytime a day — breakfast, snack or dessert. Make extra, because these will go quickly!

What exactly is coconut butter? I’ve heard of cocoa butter, but not coconut.
Substitute for special donut pan? Difference of coconut butter and coconut oil? Haven’t seen the butter form.
Coconut butter contains the oil and the meat of the coconut. It’s higher in fiber and nutrition as a result.
Can this be made into a tea bread ?
yes! Brilliant idea.
hi
Can I cook it as a cake in a tin with the middle in it. It looks like a giant donut tin? As I don’t have a donut tin and cant afford one it would be great to be able to make a donut cake instead.
Kind regards,
Laura
Yes, you can do that.
What could you use in place of coconut butter? Tia
Hi Jan, any substitution to the coconut butter would greatly alter this frosting recipe. You could try any type of nut butter. If you try that, use less.
I would like to see the nutritional information.
We just added. See above.
What other flours can be used? Almond, coconut?
You can try an almond and coconut flour blend. Just remember that it will alter the consistency and taste.
Yo honey aint vegan!
Hi J Mich, I have met many vegans that will eat honey; However, I know that many also will not. That’s why I tried to provide both options. Thank you for understanding.
Just letting you know, HONEY is NOT VEGAN. Just for future reference! thanks.
Hi Brittany, I have met many vegans that will eat honey; However, I know that many also will not. That’s why I tried to provide both options. Thank you for understanding.
What other flours will work? Almond? Oat? Thanks!
You can try almond or oat flour. Here is another donut recipe that uses other flours: https://draxe.com/recipe/homemade-mini-donut-cakes/.
Thank you!
Can I use lavender oil vs dried lavender?
I wonder.about the texture, is it tough, soft or chewy???
They are soft like a cake donut. Blessings!
Copy & paste into a word document, then print. Presto, you’ll have a printed recipe :)
Jason, that would work well. Printable versions of each recipe are also in the works for convenience.
Can I find a printable version for this recipe? Looks so good.
Thanks!
