If you haven’t tried tahini before, I think you’ll really enjoy it. It is a dip/spread that’s terrific with veggies, pita chips or even on sandwiches.
Key Ingredients
What is tahini sauce, and what is tahini made of? As I mentioned, this tahini past recipe only has two ingredients: sesame seeds and olive oil. That’s what makes it so simple to make — and so healthy to eat.
Because it’s made from sesame seeds, which are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals, it helps lower cholesterol, protect your heart and even fight blood pressure. Not bad for a small seed!
The other ingredient, olive oil, is beneficial in its own right. Extra-virgin olive oil benefits the heart, brain, immune system and blood sugar levels.
Now let’s make this tahini recipe…
How to Make Tahini
How do you make tahini from scratch? Start by heating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
On a slightly greased baking sheet, spread the package of sesame seeds, and bake them for eight to 10 minutes.
This step gives the seeds so much extra flavor with next to no effort.
When the seeds finish roasting, remove them from the oven, and let them cool for about 15 minutes.
Then add the sesame seeds and olive oil to the food processor. Pulse the ingredients on high.
You might need to scrape down the sides every once in awhile. Keep pulsing until the mix is smooth and creamy.
You’re done! Because it’s so easy, there’s no reason to avoid making this homemade tahini recipe ASAP.
