Pineapple Smoothie with Cilantro Recipe - Dr. Axe

Refreshing Pineapple Smoothie with Cilantro

(112)

Start your day or treat yourself after a workout with this Pineapple Smoothie with Cilantro. Pineapple and cilantro aid digestion, and nutritious coconut milk and coconut water provide immediate energy due to their medium-chain fatty acid content. MCFAs can be used by your body right when you consume them, so they’re always great for breakfast or a post-workout snack.

Cilantro, which you might think of as a savory ingredient, pairs with pineapple beautifully and gives this smoothie a clean, fresh flavor. The benefits of cilantro and chlorella are numerous, not the least of which they help detox your body of heavy metals and protect against cancer. Basically, there’s not one ingredient here that isn’t pulling its weight to feed your body well.

How to Make a Pineapple Smoothie

Start by gathering your smoothie ingredients: coconut milk, the juice of a lime, frozen pineapple and fresh cilantro. Don’t forget the chlorella powder and coconut water (yes, the right kind of coconut water is good for you).

The chlorella is optional in this smoothie, but you’ll get so many proven benefits from it. Be sure to look for broken cell wall chlorella, as this makes all that green goodness completely absorbable by your body. On to the blender!

Add everything to the blender and add one cup of coconut water. Start blending on low speed and gradually increase to high speed until you get a uniform blend. Does it look a little thick for your liking? Add a little more coconut water, blend again, and see if that’s better.

I used mangos instead of pineapple and I loved this drink. Next time I will use just the coconut water and not the coconut milk. The coconut milk I used was in a can. But the cilantro and lime combined with the fruit was delicious :).
