Key ingredients
Kale is of course the star ingredient in this kale shake recipe, and it’s easy to see why. As a nutrient-dense food, this leafy green is high in vitamins A, C and K, and it’s been shown to benefit health in many ways, including combating inflammation, aiding detoxification, supporting heart and eye health, and more.
In addition to this noted superfood, this recipe also include:
- Banana: Bananas are rich in essential nutrients, such as potassium, vitamin C and dietary fiber. Their high potassium content supports heart health by helping maintain normal blood pressure levels. Additionally, the fiber in bananas aids in digestive health and promotes a feeling of fullness, which can assist in weight management.
- Cayenne pepper: Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, a compound known for its potential health benefits. Studies have suggested that capsaicin may have anticancer, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.
- Cinnamon: Cinnamon has been traditionally used for its medicinal properties, and it’s been shown to help protect heart, blood sugar, brain, skin and oral health, among other benefits.
- Red grapes: Red grapes are a source of antioxidants, including resveratrol and anthocyanins, which have been associated with various health benefits. Recent clinical trials have revealed that grape consumption may positively influence cognition, particularly in areas of memory, learning, and overall cognitive function and emotional well-being. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of grapes may mitigate neuroinflammation and protect brain cells from free radical damage.
This kale shake recipe also includes vanilla extract and water and ice, though you can use almond milk or coconut milk instead of water for a creamier shake.

How much do you recommend juicing kale per week? Is it safe to drink everyday?
I think it’s good to give the body variety! Vegetables have different benefits and the more variety you give your body, the more diverse nutrients you are consuming

As a type 1 diabetic with an insulin pump, I need to know carb counts to dose my insulin. It would be helpful to have some info. …
So, I made this today, tasted great, but couldn’t tolerate the kale bits in the drink. I have a Ninja and ran the blender for a good 60sec. or more. Any suggestions to smooth out the kale better?
Thanks
Maybe try blending just the kale and liquid in the blender first before adding in the fruit and ice. Hopefully doing it first will help it to fully smooth out first and then you can add the remaining ingredients.
I’ve heard mixed ideas about kale, especially eating it raw. Obviously you think it’s good for us, but what is your take on those cautioning us.
Listen to your body and make sure that it is organic
Is this a meal or for a snack?
You can use it for either! If using it as a meal, I would add protein to it.
